Encroachment
In this work, I focused on the concept of locality and how human actions shaped and influenced our surroundings. Specifically, I explored the loss of habitat and native Irish wildlife due to human interaction, examining the delicate balance between mankind and nature. Drawing inspiration from my hometown of Castleconnell, I viewed the environment through the lens of childhood innocence and memory. This personal connection was central to the process, allowing me to reflect on how the landscape had changed over time. I used vibrant hues in my paintings to evoke a sense of nostalgia, capturing the natural beauty of the environment while highlighting the impact of human actions. Paintings from this body of work were also exhibited in Spacecraft Limerick, May of 2024 in a student led exhibition titled 'Internal Frameworks'.
